Bought an eSIM for your Bali trip? Great choice — no physical SIM swapping, no waiting in line at the airport. Just scan, activate, and you're online. This guide walks you through the entire process on both iPhone and Android.
Before You Start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- A compatible device — most phones from 2020 onwards support eSIM. Dial *#06# on your phone to check if an EID number appears. If it does, your phone supports eSIM.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection — you'll need internet to download the eSIM profile.
- Your eSIM QR code — we'll send this to you via WhatsApp after your order is confirmed.
- Save the QR code — screenshot it or save the image so you can scan it from your phone.
How to Activate on iPhone (iOS)
Step 1: Open Settings
Go to Settings on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to Cellular
Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data depending on your region).
Step 3: Add Cellular Plan
Tap Add Cellular Plan (or Add eSIM).
Step 4: Scan the QR Code
- If you have the QR code on another device or printed, point your camera at it.
- If you have a screenshot on the same phone (iOS 17+), tap Open Photos and select the screenshot.
Step 5: Confirm the Plan
Tap Add Cellular Plan to confirm. Your phone will download and install the eSIM profile.
Step 6: Label Your Plan
Choose a label for the new plan (e.g., "Bali eSIM" or "Travel") and tap Continue.
Step 7: Set Default Line
When asked, keep your primary number as the default line for calls and messages.
Step 8: Enable Data
Go to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data and select your new eSIM plan. Make sure Data Roaming is turned on.
Restart your phone if needed — your eSIM should now be active.
How to Activate on Android
Step 1: Open Settings
Go to Settings on your Android device.
Step 2: Go to Connections
Tap Connections (or Network & Internet on some devices).
Step 3: SIM Card Manager
Select SIM Card Manager (or SIM & Network).
Step 4: Add Mobile Plan
Tap Add Mobile Plan (or Add eSIM / Download SIM).
Step 5: Scan the QR Code
- Point your camera at the QR code to scan it.
- If you have a screenshot (Android 13+), tap the Photos icon in the scan screen and select the image.
- Tap OK or Confirm when prompted.
Step 6: Activation
Your eSIM will be downloaded and activated automatically. This may take a minute.
Step 7: Enable Data
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager → Mobile Data and select your new eSIM. Make sure Data Roaming is turned on.
Your eSIM is now active and ready to use.
Manual Activation (If QR Scan Doesn't Work)
On both iPhone and Android, you can enter the eSIM details manually if the QR code scan doesn't work:
- On the QR code scan screen, look for Enter Details Manually (iPhone) or Enter Activation Code (Android).
- Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code — we'll include these in your WhatsApp message.
- Follow the remaining steps to complete the installation.
Troubleshooting Tips
- eSIM not appearing after install? Restart your phone.
- No data connection? Double-check that you selected the eSIM for cellular data and that Data Roaming is enabled.
- QR code not scanning? Make sure the image is clear and well-lit. Try the manual activation method above.
- "Cannot add plan" error? Your device may not support eSIM, or your carrier may have a lock. Contact us via WhatsApp and we'll help.
When Should I Install My eSIM?
You can install the eSIM before your flight — as long as you have Wi-Fi to download the profile. The data plan activates when you first connect to a mobile network, so you won't waste any days.
We recommend installing it a day before you travel so everything is ready when you land in Bali.
