Search for a Bali eSIM and you'll see the same three names: Klook, Airalo and Holafly. We sell local SIMs here in Bali, so we get asked about them a lot. Here's how they compare, and when you'd want something else.
The Short Answer
Airalo and Holafly cost about $27 for a week of unlimited data in Bali. Klook prices vary because several sellers list eSIMs there. All three are data-only eSIMs. They get you online, but none of them gives you an Indonesian phone number.
For maps, messaging and social media, any of the three works. If you need a local number to receive SMS codes or to take calls from drivers and villa hosts, you need a local Telkomsel eSIM instead.
Klook vs Airalo vs Holafly: Bali eSIM Prices Compared
Prices below were checked on each provider's site in October 2026. They change often, so check before you buy.
| eSIM | 7 days | 30 days | Phone number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Klook | Varies by seller | Varies by seller | No |
| Airalo | $27 unlimited | $69 unlimited | No |
| Holafly | $27.50 unlimited | $73.90 unlimited | No |
| Local Telkomsel (GetBaliSIM) | — | $10–$29.41 (10–125GB) | Yes, +62 |
Klook, Airalo and Holafly work as soon as you install them, no documents needed. A local Telkomsel eSIM is different: Indonesian law says it has to be registered with your passport.
Klook Bali eSIM: What You Get
Klook isn't a mobile network. It's a travel marketplace, and its Bali eSIMs come from several different sellers, so plans and prices change from one listing to the next.
Their most-booked Indonesia eSIM is a plain data plan. You turn on data roaming to connect, and you keep your home number for calls.
It's handy if you're already booking tours there and just want data in the same basket.
Airalo Indonesia eSIM: What You Get
Airalo offers two kinds of Indonesia eSIM: fixed-data packs and unlimited plans. Neither comes with an Indonesian number.
Unlimited costs $27 for a week or $69 for a month, and the smaller fixed packs work out cheaper for a short stay. You can set it all up at home before you fly.
For a quick trip where data is all you need, it's an easy choice.
Holafly Indonesia eSIM: What You Get
Holafly is the "never think about data" option: unlimited data on XL and Telkomsel, $27.50 for a week or $73.90 for a month. Their own page is upfront that the Indonesia eSIM "only comes with cellular data", with no local number for calls or texts.
One catch if you travel with a laptop: hotspot sharing is capped.
If you'd rather not count gigabytes and won't need a local number, it's a solid pick.
Do You Need an Indonesian Phone Number in Bali?
Honestly, most travelers just need data. Maps, WhatsApp, Instagram and video calls all work fine on a data-only eSIM.
A +62 number starts to matter in two situations:
- Local app sign-ups. Some Indonesian apps verify your account by SMS to a +62 number, and Gojek is the best-known example. A data-only eSIM can't receive that SMS. See which apps need a local number.
- Calls from locals. Drivers, villa hosts and restaurants in Bali often phone or text a local number.
Local Telkomsel eSIM: What You Get
A local Telkomsel eSIM is a real Indonesian phone line: a +62 number, data, and 30 minutes of local calls. Because every SIM sold to a foreigner has to be registered with a passport, a legal local eSIM always involves a bit of paperwork.
Here's how it works with us:
- Pay online with PayPal. Plans run from $10 for 10GB to $29.41 for 125GB, all valid for 30 days.
- Receive the eSIM QR code by email and install it on your phone.
- Upload your passport data page, your IMEI screen (dial
*#06#) and your phone's About screen. - We activate your line about 24 hours before you land. If you're already in Bali, we activate it after your documents are verified, between 8am and 8pm WITA.
The eSIM needs to connect within 48 hours of activation. Your documents are deleted 7 days after activation.
Yes, it's more steps than Klook, Airalo or Holafly. What you get for it is a phone number that works in Bali, on 30-day plans from $10.
